Conformance to W3C WAI WCAG1.0 Level AAA.
Most of this area of the site is built to the standards required by the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative(WAI) on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and has a Conformance Level AAA. There are still some areas which do not conform, but we are working on these.
Put simply, the site complies as closely as possible to the W3Cs Priority 1,2 and 3 guidelines in order to benefit users with disabilities or people accessing the site with unusual software or hardware configurations.
These guidelines include:
- Using an easy to read typeface which users can resize.
- Ensuring suitable foreground and background colour contrast.
- Using clear and simple grammar.
- Providing meaningful text equivalents for pictures.
- Providing simple and consistent site navigation.
- Ensuring the target of each link is clearly defined.
- Using semantic mark-up to maximise browser support.
This site is built using XHTML 1.0 Transitional markup and CSS 2.1.
